Rise Up & Read Event on March 27 at 4PM

On Wednesday, March 27, 2019, at 4PM, Harbor School will host it's next Rise Up and Read! book reading event at the Vashon Public Library. We'll read aloud stories that champion literature and the power of storytelling. This event is geared toward children in grades K-6. FREE and open to the public.

GOING SOMEPLACE SPECIAL written by Patricia C. McKissack and illustrated by Jerry Pinkney, DREAMERS written and illustrated by Yuyi Morales, and PLANTING STORIES: THE LIFE OF LIBRARIAN AND STORYTELLER PURA BELPRÉ written by Anika Aldamuy Denise and illustrated by Paola Escobar.
Once a month, Harbor School & Carpe Diem’s Race Equity Book Club invites the Vashon community to read aloud age-appropriate children's books that introduce topics and people that have been typically underrepresented in children's books. We aim to engage the youngest early readers in kindergarten through 6th grade. These events also include games and creative movement.
Held at the Vashon Public Library. This event is free and the public is welcome.
