Rise Up & Read Event on October 24

On Wednesday, October 24, 2018, at 4PM, Harbor School will host it's next Rise Up and Read! book reading event at the Vashon Public Library. We'll share stories that honor the women justices of the United States Supreme Court, past and present. This event is geared toward children in grades K-5. This event is FREE and open to the public.

TURNING PAGES: MY LIFE STORY written by Sonia Sotomayor and illustrated by Lulu Delacre, CHICO written by Sandra Day O'Connor and illustrated by Dan Andreasen, and RUTH BADER GINSBURG: THE CASE OF R.B.G. vs. INEQUALITY written by Jonah Winter and illustrated by Stacy Innerst.
Once a month, Harbor School & Carpe Diem’s Race Equity Book Club invites the Vashon community to read aloud age-appropriate children's books that introduce topics and people that have been typically underrepresented in children's books. We aim to engage the youngest early readers in kindergarten through 5th grade. These events also include games and creative movement.
Held at the Vashon Public Library. This event is free and the public is welcome.
